Especially the new Netlabels.org-Website is a delicious one to style and design. Even though I prefer to work with open source tools, it's sometimes necessary to build something custom-made. Nevertheless the new Netlabels.org is build upon open source.

Next to the programming by Martin using Ruby On Rails, I built the whole site upon the marvellous 960-Grid-System by Nathan Smith. Also we make use of the wonderful free icon library called "Crystal Project". You see the icons in action in the screenshot and how I used them in the Admin-Area to guide the user to administer their . At first i wanted to use the nice FamFamFam Icon Library, but unfortunately the FamFamFam Icons are only in one size: 16x16 pixels. The Crystal Project Icon Library has different sizes from 16x16 to 128x128.

Filtering the Web of Netlabels with Yahoo! Pipes

CC-Music & | With the relaunch of the Netaudio News Center you get a quick overview of what's going on in the world, netlabels scene and where to find new free mp3 reviews. The purpose of this little is to collect the most important information via RSS and present it on one page. Especially the music reviews-column is a excellent place to find new music filtered by blogs, podcasts and music magazines.

The News Center uses heavily the fantastic aggregation, filtering and reorganising functions of Yahoo! Pipes. Thanks to the Open Source World, we can grab these feeds with the Simplepie-Parser. Which sources we used, can be seen under the columns.
